Swims began with a Norwegian student walking the rainy streets of Manhattan in his grandfather's old galoshes. That simple moment sparked an idea, and in 2006 Swims was founded in Oslo with a mission to breathe new life into the almost-forgotten galosh, transforming a purely practical item into a stylish lifestyle piece with a bold personality.

The brand's character is shaped by its Norwegian roots. Scandinavia is known for clean, minimalist design, and Norway's dramatic seasonal contrasts demand pieces that work just as well on slushy winter days in the city as on warm summer days out on the fjord.
